The new Handelsregisterwet (Trade Register Act) 2007 will come into force on 1 July 2008. The new trade register will serve as a new integral, digital basic register of companies and legal entities.
The most important changes listed:
- Expansion of the group of firms and legal entities that must register.
This includes sole traders in agriculture or fishery; partnerships; professions such as architects, general practitioners and solicitors; the public sector, such as ministries, local authorities and independent administrative bodies; owners' associations, religious fellowships. - All matters such as registration, filing records and passing on amendments can be reported to any office of the Kamer van Koophandel (Dutch Chamber of Commerce).
- Both the filing of deeds and information and the requesting of copies thereof can be done through the paper trail or electronically.
- Legal entities to whom a business belongs are required to state their KvK (Chamber of Commerce) registration number, not only on letter paper but also on letters sent by e-mail, orders and suchlike.
Benefits for employers:Decrease in administrative burden on employers: employers submit basic details on their business to the whole government just once at one location: at the KvK (Chamber of Commerce). |
